Moscow’s health department deploys AI for radiology

Moscow’s Department of Health (DoH) is reported to be deploying artificial intelligence (AI)  technologies for radiology. As part of the project, the DoH is using an AI platform to detect symptoms of lung cancer in CT scans. Botkin.AI, a Russian software platform, has been utilised for the Unified Radiological Information System of Moscow, enabling CT studies from medical organisations that are connected to the service to be automatically downloaded for analysis. The DoH also intends to retrospectively review the scans implemented during the COVID-19 pandemic by using the Botkin.AI platform and applying a new algorithm created to detect malignant tumors and damaged lung tissues caused by COVID-19. The Skolkovo Foundation, a Russian non-profit government organisation, granted the funding for the new functionality of the platform.
