Morocco launches Digital ID platform

Morocco has introduced a national digital identity platform allowing citizens to verify their identity for online services using their electronic identity card. Users can choose what information to share, like biometrics or a one-time password, and access the service via a mobile app.

The digital development agency and general directorate of national security of Morocco have launched the national digital identity platform for citizens of the country. The platform enables users to verify their identity when accessing a range of public and private online services through their contactless national electronic identity card (CNIE) card. Users can select information to be shared with service providers, according to the service required. Examples of elective information include biometric fingerprint, face recognition or a one-time password. The service is also available on a mobile app.
