Microsoft has launched a new cloud data processing hub in central Poland, comprising three physical locations around Warsaw. The move is part of the company’s $1bn IT transformation plan for Poland and aims to give businesses in the region reliable access to cloud services, thus promoting the digitisation of the economy and strengthening data security.
Each of the three locations will house at least one data storage and processing centre, built to comply with Poland’s restrictive regulations on data storage. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki welcomed the move, stressing the importance of cybersecurity in a post-Ukraine conflict world. Poland has one of the highest levels of IT presence in its public sphere, with many services available through the internet and mobile devices.
