Mark Zuckerberg meets Liu Yunshan in Beijing

Facebook’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg has held a meeting with China’s propaganda chief, Liu Yunshan, in Beijing. Although Facebook’s services are still banned in China, Liu Yunshan told Zuckerberg that he hopes Facebook can share its knowledge with Chinese companies to help ‘internet development better benefit the people of all countries.’ Zuckerberg has long tried to introduce Facebook in China, but even if he would be able to convince Chinese officials, ‘he will almost assuredly have to accept a version of the social-media service that hews to local censorship rules,’ writes Hannah Beech in TIME magazine.
