Manipur High Court orders a partial lift ban on internet ban
The Manipur High Court has partially lifted the internet ban, allowing connections over leased lines, and FTTH connections.
The Manipur High Court has ordered the state government to partially lift the internet ban by providing internet services through Internet Lease Lines (ILLs) and to consider Fibre to the Home (FTTH) connections on a case-by-case basis, in line with the restrictions provided by the Expert Committee. Namely, the 12-member committee ordered to:
- ban Wi-Fi or Hotspots from any routers,
- block social media websites and VPNs at the local level,
- remove VPN software from the system, and
- prohibit the installation of new softwares by any user and enforce physical monitoring by the concerned officials.
