Kenya’s online pharmacy to launch telehealth solution in support of HIV prevention efforts
MYDAWA, a Kenyan online pharmacy, will launch the country’s first-ever telehealth solution in support of HIV prevention efforts, enabling people to access PrEP and PEP online.
MYDAWA, Kenya’s online pharmacy, will launch the first Kenyan telehealth solution in support of efforts to prevent the spread of the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). MYDAWA’s project is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the Organization of American States (OAS), in partnership with the University of Washington, Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology, Fred Hutch Cancer Research Centre, Jhpiego and Audere.
The country’s first telehealth solution aimed at reducing HIV prevalence in Kenya received research approval from the Kenyan Medical Research Institute and the University of Washington. The end-to-end solution will enable customers to access Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) online.
