Japanese Ministry to develop a set of measures against fake news

The Japanese Ministry of Information and Ministry of Internal affairs announced the development of a set of guidelines tackling the spread of misinformation online especially during electoral campaigns and natural disasters. These measures will be drafted by June 2019 by a panel of experts within the Communication Ministry and will address the main tech giants such as Facebook, Twitter, Google. Such measures will be similar to the self-regulatory code of practice asked by the EU’s Commission to the main US tech giants.
