Italian court bans Uber over unfair competition with taxis

Following a complaint filed against Uber by taxi unions, a court in Rome, Italy issued a ruling banning Uber, saying that the Uber application has contributed to traditional taxis facing unfair competition. The company was given ten days to stop the use of its app in Italy, as well as any advertising activity. Failure to comply could lead to a fine of 10,000 euro for each day of non-compliance. The ruling is subject to appeal, and Uber already said that it would proceed in this direction.
