Irish DPC launches two inquiries into TikTok related to processing and transfer of personal data of children

The Data Protection Commission (DPC) of Ireland has launched two inquiries related to concerns over TikTok’s  compliance with  the GDPR requirements. 

The first inquiry will examine whether TikTok complied with the transparency obligations of GDPR in the context of the processing of personal data of users under age 18 and over the companies compliance to the platform setting requirements for users under the age of 18 and age verification measures for persons under 13.

The second inquiry will focus on the issue of  transfer of personal data to China by TikTok and the company’s  compliance with the GDPR’s requirements for transfers of personal data to third countries.
