The Parliamentary Committee on Communication and Technology in India summoned representatives from leading over-the-top (OTT) services like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Sony Liv, Disney+ Hotstar, and Zee 5. They were urged to avoid explicit content and respect cultural sensitivities, aiming to uphold decency standards and protect viewers.

Additionally, the committee discussed whether OTT platforms should adhere to the regulations of the Cinematograph Act and addressed their revenue and investment figures, and the issue of piracy. The parliamentary panel requested additional information regarding the revenue generated by these platforms in India and the amount they reinvested.

The OTT platforms are expected to provide written responses to the queries put forth by the parliamentary panel.
