India to receive 171 million US dollars for the development of Internet projects

India will receive 171 million US dollars to develop its broadband projects. The grant is given by the US government’s development finance institution, Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), ‘to support the expansion of…low-cost and rapidly scalable wireless broadband networks across India.’ According to OPIC, access to the Internet among residential and commercial consumers provides a vital base for socio-economic development.
