The Indian government launched the Global DPI Repository and the Social Impact Fund to promote the adoption of digital public infrastructures (DPI) worldwide as part of its G20 initiatives.

The repository aims to facilitate the sharing and development of digital public infrastructure solutions and act as a centralised platform for global DPI projects implemented by different governments. It showcases notable examples like the Australian government’s Digital ID system, Singapore’s National Digital Identity system, and the EU’s Digital Identity Wallet, among others. The repository’s main objective is to address the knowledge gap in the decision-making and implementation processes associated with the design, construction, deployment, and governance of DPIs.

India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi also announced the creation of the Social Impact Fund (SIF) to provide financial support to countries working on developing DPIs, offering technical and non-technical assistance. India has made an initial commitment of USD 25 million to the fund, which will help promote the adoption of DPIs worldwide. The fund allows contributions from other governments, international organisations, and philanthropic entities.
