ICANN reports to the US government on the status of the IANA stewardship transition

ICANN announced that it has submitted an IANA stewardship transition implementation plan to the US government (the National Telecommunications and Information Administration), as requested by the government in June 2016. The plan outlines the completed implementation tasks (such as the approval of a revised set of ICANN bylaws, the signing of agreements with the IETF and the Regional Internet Registries, the incorporation of the Public Technical Identifiers), as well as a timeline for the implementation of subsequent tasks (such as the publication of the PTI bylaws, and the publication of the ICANN-PTI Naming Function Agreement). ICANN further confirms in the report that all remaining tasks in support of the transition will be completed before 30 September, the date of expiration of the contract between ICANN and the US government.
