ICANN approves Israel’s internationalised domain name

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has announced the successful completion of string evaluation of the proposed internationalised domain name (IDN) country code top-level domain (ccTLD) for Israel – ישראל. Proposed by the Israel Internet Association – the existing ccTLD manager – the string is now pending delegation into the domain name system (DNS) root zone. Until May 2020, 62 string requests for a total of 43 countries/territories have successfully passed through the string evaluation, as part of ICANN’s IDN ccTLD Fast Track Process.
