IAB recommends that all networking standards fully support IPv6

The Internet Architecture Board (IAB) has issued a statement advising standards developing organisations to ensure that the networking standards they develop support IPv6 and are so written that they do not require IPv4. IAB also expects the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) will stop requiring IPv4 compatibility in new or extended protocols, and that future IETF protocol work will depend on IPv6. A recommendation is made for existing standards to be reviewed to ensure that they work with IPv6. In addition, the industry in encouraged to develop strategies for IPv6-only operation.
