Human rights organisations urges Myanmar to lift Internet restrictions in Rakhine and Chin States

According to a news report, 29 human rights focused organizations have in a joint signed statement demanded of the government of Myanmar to halt the restriction and shutdown of the Internet in the states of Rakhine and Chin. The call was motivated by the fact that on 3 February, the government reinstated restrictions of Mobile Internet access in five townships in the conflict-ravaged states.

The statement particularly called in the government if Myanmar to “release publicly the justification for the internet shutdown and all information related to the process by which these restrictions were imposed.”
