Hamburg data protection authority fines Facebook for failing to nominate DPO

Hamburg data protection authority has fined Facebook 51.000 euros for failing to properly nominate a data protection officer for its local office in Germany. According to Bloomberg, the authority indicates this fine will send a warning to other companies, for a full implementation of the obligations states in the EU’s GDPR. According to TelecomPaper, Facebook “immediately” stopped the violation and appointed a data protection officer.
