GSMA report shows mobile industry continues Asia Pacific region investment to support economic recovery and growth

GSMA released a new report that looks at the mobile economy in Asia Pacific region with a special focus on the key trends that shape digital societies during the COVID-19 crisis and how the mobile is contributing to economic growth and addressing social challenges. The report unveiled how the growth in connectivity is helping the mobile industry increase its impact across all the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs). It is also reported that advanced countries across the region continue to lead in 5G deployments and use despite the challenges posed by COVID-19. The report predicts that there will be 663M new mobile Internet users across the Asia Pacific and that 23% of almost a quarter of total mobile connections will be running on 5G networks by 2025. It further envisages that the operator’s CAPEX spending will reach $414BN for the period 2020-2025 (80% of this will be on 5G).
