With Free Basics temporarily shut down in India, the Facebook vs net neutrality debate wages on

The ongoing debate between Facebook and net neutrality advocates concerning Facebook’s ‘Free Basics’ project has reached the level of Indian regulators. Despite a campaign launched by Facebook to ‘Save Free Basics in India‘, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India has temporarily shut down Free Basics. Facebook answered with a double full-page ad in the Sunday Times of India, including an opinion piece by Mark Zuckerberg, who emphasised Free Basics’ services to those of libraries, public healthcare and education.
