France to redouble efforts to create EU tech regulator after copyright spat

France is pushing for creation of separate regulatory body that would have competence over activities of online platforms, such as Google. Following latest changes in copyright laws in EU, Google announced that it will not present snippets from European publishers on search results for its French users. French authorities considers that Google is openly ignoring relevant EU rules. Therefore, this new regulator would be able to control the activities of these kind of platforms in different areas (competition, IP, etc.).
