Followers of President Jair Bolsonaro have been spreading false COVID-19 information online
Brazil is the country with the largest number of reported cases in Latin America. However, President Jair Bolsonaro insists on claiming that the situation is not serious. In this context, supporters of the President have been spreading false information online regarding the number of people affected by COVID-19 in the country. Natalia Leal, member of the Brazilian fact checking organization Agência Lupa, explained that they find new online publications with false facts or manipulated pictures and videos. Leal also mentioned that these false information has been shared by prominent figures in Brazil.
