Firefox starts rolling out DoH by default for US users

Mozilla has announced that its Firefox browser started rolling out DNS over HTTPS (DoH) by default for users in the USA. According to Mozilla, DoH ‘helps hide [users’] browsing history from attackers on the network, [and] helps prevent data collection by third parties on the network that ties [users’] computers to websites [they] visit’. While some see DoH as a welcome step towards the encryption of all Internet traffic, there are also concerns that it could break critical Internet features and functionality, and undermine law enforcement’s efforts to use DNS information to mitigate cybersecurity risks.
