Finland announces Quantum Institute

The Aalto University, the University of Helsinki, and the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland have announced the establishment of InstituteQ – the Finnish Quantum Institute, dedicated to coordinating research, education, and innovation in quantum science and technology across Finland. The three entities have signed a cooperation agreement that will see them working together on advancing quantum science and technology under the umbrella of the new institute. InstituteQ – which is part of a broader effort to keep Finland ‘at the forefront of an increasingly competitive global field’ – will also facilitate international cooperation. Finland is now in the process of building its first quantum computer, through a partnership between VTT and quantum computing company IQM.
