Facebook launches lawsuit against two marketing companies engaging in data scraping operations

According to TechCrunch, Facebook has filed a lawsuit in the USA against two companies engaged in an international ‘data scraping’ operation. The companies gathered the data of Facebook users for ‘marketing intelligence’ purposes, in violation of Facebook’s Terms of Service. According to the lawsuit, the two companies collected data with browser extensions to scrape usernames, gender, date of birth, relationship status, location, and other information related to their accounts.
