Facebook expands C2C e-commerce platform in Europe

Facebook announced that its consumer-to-consumer (C2C) e-commerce platform, Marketplace, would be launched in 17 countries in Europe. Marketplace was first launched in 2016 in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Marketplaceā€™s business model does not yet rely on charging either buyers or sellers for using the platform. This could make it an attractive option for consumers, creating a challenge to traditional C2C e-commerce platforms already in operation in Europe, such as eBay. Among the European countries that will soon be covered by Marketplace, are: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
