EU Parliament’s Consumer Protection Committee on how the EU can protect consumers online
The Vice-Chair of EU Parliament’s Internal Market and Consumer Protection committee, Maria Grapini has stated that since more people are shopping online in the advent of Coronavirus pandemic, e-commerce platforms ought to behave ethically and in a socially responsible manner in an article. Grapini echoed that whilst she supports e-commerce in the EU’s Single Market, she believes that it should also go along with strong legislative regimes that will ensure that products offered to consumers are of the highest quality and offer the utmost safety to consumers. Grapini also stated ‘our safety and quality standards should be appropriate to the specific stages and situations. Safety, consumer protection and high-quality standards must be a trademark of the Single Market’.
