Egyptian president endorses law on personal data protection

According to Egypt Today, the president of Egypt Abdel Fattah El Sisi endorsed the Law No. 151 of 2020 on the protection of personal data. The law prohibits gathering or processing individuals’ data or transferring them by any means without the consent of the concerned individuals, except in cases authorized legally. The law provides for jail sentence in case of violations as well as fines, up to LE 1 million ($64,222).
