ECLAC to review Caribbean data protection frameworks

According to the Jamaica Observer, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has commissioned a study to review the data protection legislation of a range of Caribbean countries to assess the extent to which their frameworks are aligned with the EU’s GDPR as well as international data sharing best practices. The study is entitled ‘Creating an enabling environment for e-government in the Caribbean: A review of data protection and sharing legislation for alignment with the GDPR’ and will be published in the following months.
