An online newspaper in Nigeria has taken a significant step towards promoting disability inclusion by unveiling a Disability Inclusive News Application platform named DINA. Aligned with the Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities (Prohibition) Act 2019, the app incorporates Cable Check to safeguard Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from misinformation.

Speaking at the event, Kolapo Olapoju, the Editor-in-Chief of TheCable, expressed through representative Ebunoluwa Olafusi that introducing TheCable DINA brings Nigeria closer to an inclusive world by leaps and bounds. Olusola Owonikoko, a Disability Rights Expert and Team Lead of Project Enable Africa commended the initiative and emphasised the importance of ensuring the inclusion of all individuals.

‘Inclusion is crucial to sustainable development, and it is no longer a choice. There is technology and there is assistive technology, if people with disabilities have access to assistive technology, that is the goal,’ he said.
