‘Digitober’ launched by Greater Manchester to fight digital exclusion

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) launched its ‘Digitober’ initiative to combat digital exclusion, establishing October as a month in which it will focus on bringing together businesses from across the region to help close the digital divide. To this aim, the GMCA is organising a number of events with a specific focus on Greater Manchester’s commitment to digital issues and addressing digital exclusion as well as inequalities across the region. This includes a ‘Digital Leaders Week’ (panel discussions by Barclays Digital Eagles, Diverse and Equal, and Stockport DigiKnow Alliance), a ‘Switch to Digital Week’ (webinars and panel discussions for people exploring a career change to find out more about working in the sector), and a ‘Get Online Week’ (held by the Good Things Foundation to help people gain and improve their digital skills).
