According to web infrastructure security company Cloudflare, a series of distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks were carried out by hacktivist groups with pro-Russia sympathies, namely Killnet and AnonymousSudan, on several organizations in Australia.

The attack campaign began by targeting multiple higher education organizations in the country. These threat actors have further called for additional attacks against eight universities, ten airports, and eight hospital websites in Australia from 28 March onwards.

Killnet has a record of targeting governments and organizations that openly support the Ukrainian government. Since the onset of the Ukrainian conflict, the group has been associated with several cyberattacks on various websites, including those of the EU Parliamentairports in the United States, as well as the healthcare sectors in Europe and the USA, among others.
