China proposes global digital economy partnership initiative for cities

During the Global Digital Economy Conference 2023 in Beijing, China proposed an initiative for global digital economy partnership city cooperation, as reported by China Central Television (CCTV), the national television broadcaster of China.
The goal of the initiative is to collaboratively create an open innovation network for the digital economy across cities around the world. It aims to build a digital science and technology innovation ecosystem, which can facilitate the speeding up of the process of urban digital transformation, promote digital empowerment for green development, and support global digital inclusion. Wang Lei, the deputy head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, stated that ‘this cooperation initiative mainly promotes exchanges and cooperation among cities around the world, and to share an open and mutually beneficial market environment.’
