CBE, MCIT partner to facilitate government e-payments in Egypt

In line with Egypt’s Vision 2030 to promote digital transformation in providing government services, the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) revealed a new cooperation protocol to promote the provision of government services digitally. Within this cooperation, the unified payment card ‘Meeza’ will be activated for the digital government services and the mobile wallet on the Digital Egypt platform. They also announced that the government services card will include a smart chip and contactless technology to help in processing queues at service delivery outlets. The unified citizen card will further enable citizens to acquire health insurance services alongside distinguished subsidies services.
