Canada introduced additional sanctions against Russian disinformation and propaganda agents, including 29 individuals and 15 entities tied to the Russian government. The sanctions target those involved in spreading propaganda about the Ukraine conflict, such as Sumbatovich Gasparyan of Russia Today. Additionally, Canada has halted the import of specific gold items from Russia.
Canada imposed new sanctions against Russian media by the end of last week. Canada’s foreign affairs minister, Mélanie Joly, announced sanctions on 29 agents and 15 entities owned or controlled by the Russian government which played a role in spreading Russian propaganda about the war in Ukraine, said the Office of Global Affairs in a news release.This includes Sumbatovich Gasparyan, the Head of the International Department at Russia Today (RT). Also, effective immediately, Canada has banned the import of certain gold imports from Russia.
