The EU officially adopts its contribution to the UN Global Digital Compact, emphasising human rights and multistakeholder approach to the future digital transformation.

The European Union Foreign Affairs Council adopted the official contribution to the UN Global Digital Compact (GDC). The document re-affirms dedication to the human-centric approach to digital technologies and a common democratic future. The global digital transformation should be socially just, and the GDC can ensure that through a framework anchored in support of human rights. The commitment to keeping the internet open, stable, free, interoperable, secure, sustainable, inclusive and global within the multistakeholder approach as the only way forward was also reaffirmed. The EU underlined its support to the UN Secretary General’s Envoy on Technology and the GDC to shape future digital policies.
