Bill introduced in the US Congress to promote AI development

A bipartisan group of senators and representatives in the US Congress has introduced a draft bill ‘to promote an enabling environment for the continued development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology’. The bill, titled ‘Fundamentally understanding the usability and realistic evolution of AI Act‘ proposes the creation of a multistakeholder Federal Advisory Committee on the Development and Implementation of AI, to study and assess issues related to AI advancements and their impact on society, and to advise the US Secretary of Commerce on matter relating to the development of AI. Such advise should cover, among others, issues related to the competitiveness of the US, workforce, education, ethics, international cooperation and competitiveness, accountability and legal rights, machine learning bias, and government efficiency.
