Barbados to fastrack digital ID
The Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, has stated that the government will fast track digital ID to facilitate a more coordinated response to COVID-19. She noted that the lack of accurate data, for example on residential addresses, was a challenge to contact tracing. Digital ID could resolve this problem, as well as help in cashless transactions and cash transfers. Barbados has recently had a spike in new COVID-19 cases.
