Angola Cables and Nokia provide first direct fibre link between Africa and USA

Angola Cables and Nokia announced that they have provided a direct fiber link between Africa and North America. The fiber which links Sangano (Angola) and Boca Raton (Miami,USA) finished its acceptance trial on 11 November 2019.

Angola Cables CTO, Angelo Gama, said that by linking MONET and SACS, Angola cables will reduce latency between content providers in North America and consumers in Africa. 

Director of Optics Business at Nokia, Carlo Corti, said this direct link will have the highest speed and lowest latency between Africa and the USA.
