Alliance for Affordable Internet releases report on affordable access

The Alliance for Affordable Internet (A4AI) has released The 2015-16 Affordability Report. According to the report’s estimates, universal and affordable access will only be achieved by 2042; ’22 years after the target date set by the global community’. The report includes the Affordability Drivers Index, which measures the policies, incentives and infrastructure investments of 51 developing countries. Colombia and Costa Rica are at the top of the index, and Myanmar has improved its ranking the most compared to last year’s report. Finally, the report points at the gender gap as an important aspect of the ability to afford access.
