AI study tools and exam builders gain traction at Pearson

Teachers increasingly use Pearson’s AI tools to generate exams, cutting build time by more than half.

Pearson's Q3 sales rose 4% as virtual learning jumped 17% and enrolments climbed 13% for 2025–26.

Pearson reported underlying Q3 sales up 4% year on year, driven by a 17% surge in virtual learning. Enrolments for 2025–26 rose 13% as more families opt for full-time online schools and flexible courses.

AI study tools embedded in virtual curricula explain wrong answers and guide revision. Pearson says evidence shows students achieve higher grades when using AI to study.

Teacher uptake of Pearson’s AI assessment tool increased, with the company claiming it more than halves the time to create custom exams. The aim is to free up time for meaningful student interactions.

Not all divisions grew: higher education sales fell 1% amid tougher university market conditions. The company continues to push enterprise deals and product innovation.

Chief executive Omar Abbosh said Pearson delivered ‘accelerated sales growth in Q3’ and is ‘leading on innovative technologies’ while expanding its enterprise footprint.
