The inaugural event of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Global Forum on Technology is scheduled to take place on June 6, 2023, alongside the Meeting of the OECD Council at the Ministerial Level. Announced during the December 2022 OECD Digital Economy Ministerial meeting, this forum will provide a platform for inclusive, multi-stakeholder discussions on specific technology policy topics.

The event will focus on three important themes: ensuring responsible and rights-oriented technology development, leveraging emerging technologies to foster resilient societies and combat climate change, and bridging digital and technological divides through effective technology policy.

The goals of the Global Forum on Technology are multi-faceted. It aims to foster evidence-based dialogue and international cooperation on key digital and technology policy issues, involving various stakeholders such as industry, trade unions, academia, civil society, and technical communities.

The forum will analyze specific technological developments, their societal and economic impacts, and potential policy implications. It will also explore innovative policy approaches and share best practices for technology governance to build trust and promote common approaches based on mutual interests and democratic values.

Additionally, the forum seeks to strengthen the OECD’s leadership in technology policy and fostering collaboration among diverse stakeholders.
