YouTube plans to launch an online TV service in 2017

According to Bloomberg, one of YouTube’s current main priorities is to launch an online TV service as early as 2017. The company is reported to be working on a paid subscription service, called Unplugged, which would provide users with access to cable TV channels streamed over the Internet. One option analysed by YouTube for packaging TV channels is to build a bundle of channels with the US broadcast networks and few popular cable channels. YouTube is not the only Internet company working on online TV services; Apple and Amazon have similar plans.
