World Bank approves USD 200 million digital inclusion loan to Uganda

The World Bank has approved USD 200 million to Uganda in order to promote digital inclusion. The loan is expected to cover expenses for the Uganda Digital Acceleration Project which is expected to construct broadband infrastructure and improve access to high speed internet. The investment will also finance mobile connections for 900 government centers and in that manner facilitate a better delivery of digital public services. Wi-fi hotspots will also be established across a number of locations, namely in rural areas so as to enable accessibility to and affordability of online services.
