WHO releases report ‘Digital technology and COVID-19 in the Western Pacific Region’

The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a report titled ‘Digital technology and COVID-19 in the Western Pacific Region’. The report raises particular concern over collection, storage, sharing, use of and access to information. To that end it acknowledges that effective legal frameworks are needed in order to harness the power of digital technologies, specifically in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic. The document provides eight actions for consideration including strengthening of legal frameworks, investments in universal health coverage, and enhancement of digital health strategies, to name but a few.
