WHO plans to launch Coronavirus app

According to a Reuters report, the World Health Organization (WHO) will launch an app this month to allow people to assess whether they may have contracted the Coronavirus. The app aims to help under-resourced countries that may lack the capacity to develop the technology and struggle to offer accurate information and testing. The WHO is also considering adding a Bluetooth-enabled contact tracing feature to the app. Bernado Mariano Jr, chief information officer of the WHO, said that legal and privacy concerns have prevented the organisation from making a decision on a contact tracing feature. The WHO plans to announce guidance on issues countries should consider when they introduce their own contact tracing apps.
