WHO partners with UK and BBC to counter COVID-19 misinformation

The World Health Organization (WHO) announced a partnership with the government of the UK and the Prime Minister’s office to raise awareness about the risks of Coronavirus misinformation. The campaign, titled Stop The Spread, is rolled out on the BBC World television, website, and apps throughout May and June 2020. It encourages BBC audiences to double check information from unreliable sources and promotes understanding that the WHO and national health authorities are trusted sources of information. The UK government will offer a toolkit of campaign resources to other governments to translate and utilise in their countries, which will help create a unified message across governments.
