WHO launches Facebook chatbot to combat COVID-19 misinformation

The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a chatbot on Facebook Messenger in efforts to connect people to credible COVID-19 information on social media. . While the WHO has been offering instant and accurate information about the Coronavirus via Whatsapp, the expansion of its  health alert interactive service can potentially reach an additional 4.2 billion people. The alert service is accessible in English, French, Spanish, and Arabic through WHO’s Facebook page by selecting ‘Send message’ or via the Messenger link. The chatbot was developed through a pro-bono collaboration with Sprinklr. Moreover, Praekelt.Org partnered with the WHO to develop the WHO Health Alert, using Turn machine learning technology.
