WHO launches AI for Quitting Tobacco Initiative
The World Health Organization (WHO) has announced that it designed and developed the organisation’s first virtual health worker, Florence. Florence uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help tobacco users quit smoking by dispelling myths around COVID-19, smoking, and helping people adapt to a personalised plan to quit smoking. Users can interact with Florence via video or text and count on her as a trusted source of information to quit tobacco products. Florence was created by using the technology developed by San Francisco and New Zealand based company Soul Machines, also with help from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud.
