WhatsApp launches digital payment services

WhatsApp launched its digital payment service. The service has been tested first in Brazil. WhatsApp users in Brazil currently have the opportunity to pay for their transactions and send money through the app. The new WhatsApp payment service is enabled by Facebook Pay which was launched in 2019. WhatsApp’s payment service security measures  include a six-digital pin or a fingerprint. Users are required to link their WhatsApp account to their debit or credit card. The service is free for customers, but businesses must pay a fee to receive customer payments. Facebook expects that users of Facebook Pay will one day be able to use their credit card information across the rest of Facebook’s platforms.
