Whatsapp deletes a monthly average of 2 million accounts in India to fight fake news

During a press release, Whatsapp India has declared its commitment to continue fighting the spread of fake news and misinformation ahead of national elections in April 2019. The messaging application declared that every month 2 million accounts are deleted every month due to the abuse of the platform’s terms and conditions. These include creating fake accounts and bots that spread false information or scams and steal users’ information.
